Hi Larry,

It is option-click on a Mac to get to this point as Aaron suggested. You can also duplicate the line with the Glissando over it so you can see how the original line is working and then click on edit while the duplicate is highlighted. You can then customize your "glissando" and how it appears on the line by using the settings at the bottom of the "smart line designer" window that comes up after you click edit. You'll see "Text" at the bottom and under that several edit buttons and position buttons. Here you can specify what/where text appears on the beginning, middle and end of the line as well as how it continues "Left Continuation" on multiple systems if you drag it across. (For instance, I use (8va) (with parenthesis) on a dotted line as the Left continuation setting so if I have multiple lines of 8va that appears on each successive system.)

You can also choose fonts, bold, italic etc. for you "glissando" wording. After you have clicked on "left start" for instance, you'll see a text menu appear at the top of your screen in the main menu bar. There are many choices there for you to play with as well!

Hope this helps!

Best,

Karen

Select the Smart Shape tool, then find the Glissando tool in the tool palette and Ctrl-Click on it (or whatever the Mac equivalent is). Then select the wavy line with 'Glissando' over it (probably the first item in the list box). Double-click on first note, drag to second note, and release.
