I paid for an annual subscription for one year and downloaded everything I could find that might possible be of use. If they're really going to be reducing or removing the midi component, I may pay again and suck down as many midi files as I can! They may not be accurate, but often they are good starting places to import into Finale and then edit/neaten-up there.
That's precisely what I use them for. I just finished the parts for Vivaldi's summer, in a fraction of the time it would have taken me to enter the notes by hand. It takes hardly more time than to go into town to the music shop. With savings of close to 50 Euros for a complete set of parts (considering that I can print my own parts as often as I like), this is the best solution.
I doubt very much that existing MIDI files would be taken down from the site. Compared to Audio files they take next to no space on the server.
