unfortunately i dumped the file away into the trash can and am working
with the "save as version" i made in a separate HD.

Send that file to MacSupport, I am sure they would want to take a look
at it, if it occurs with the same file all the time. This might be
instrumental in tracking it down. Can you reproduce the steps that
cause the bug?
