Hi,
This happened to me this summer.
Select the Staff Tool. Are there by chance thick blue lines over the
staves indicating that a staff style is applied? One that would
change the staff name? This was my problem. Selecting the problem
area and hitting Clear (in the numeric keypad) will get rid of them
(or selecting "Clear Staff Styles" from the menu.)
