And that's what one uses Patterson Beams plugin to correct. With the right settings, the plugin works very well, but if you get picky (and you do, after you get used to seeing the improvements the plugin makes), you occasionally have to tweak some beams by hand after running the plugin.

Just to balance things out, let me observe that not every publisher feels the necessity to avoid wedges. I am one of these. I find that I have to tweak some beams for other reasons whether I use Patterson Beams or not, and since using the Patterson plugin is an extra step in the editing process, I simply don't use it.
