Great info John, but I wanted to quickly point out that the address you have for Shawnee Press is incorrect. They are now located in Nashville, TN, and are part of the Music Sales Group. Their address and other contact information is available at their web site www.shawneepress.com

Years ago I had a great book called Bass Clef Sessions,
full of trios, duets, quartets, rounds, fugues etc, etc.

Loaned to someone- and never returned!

Any thoughts on a source of this book?.

Editor and arranger is W Livingston Gearhart, publisher Shawnee Press. The only supplier I found in a Google search was MusicRoom (www.musicroom.com), but June Emerson (www.juneemerson.co.uk) has it also. Both quote prices in UK pounds but deliver worldwide. I particularly like the trios, LG's arrangement of "Little Brown Jug" and the Palestrina Madrigal, which I used to play with my son and daughter on horn, trombone and bassoon.

June Emerson's Brass catalogue has over 250 trombone quartets in it.

As an aside, in case anyone is actually interested, the Shawnee Press reference reminded me of this. Virginia Morley and Livingston Gearhart were at one point in their careers the duo pianists with Fred Warning and the Pennsylvanians. They were also married to each other, at least until Fred stole Virginia away and married her. Gearhart was subsequently one of Waring's stable of very good arrangers, as duo piano duties were taken over by Webb and Hornibrook, who both ended up teaching at Indiana University. The list of very fine musicians who were associated with Fred and his organization at one time and went on to very distinguished personal careers is quite long, and includes Robert Shaw.
