Friends,

Some of you may be more aware of us than I was.

Back in January I observed on the Finale website, an updated "Finale Viewer", and wrote:
Friends,

So, while looking on the Finale website for something else, I found that the Finale Viewer is back, promoted as "...the easy, fast, and professional way to sell digital sheet music on the interent." It now appears to provide for file encryption, and for secure printing transactions. The page includes a testimonial quote from the President of Hal Leonard, Hal Morton. Given that they were an early backer of Scorch, one wonders what the long term import of this will be.
I recently stumbled across a site which suggests to me the reason why Hal Leonard switched from the competitor's Scorch technology to the new Finale Viewer: S~ opened an online publishing venture. I suspect that MakeMusic is prohibited from doing so, by the terms of the agreement by which the company acquired the Finale assets from the predecessor organization, "Net4Music", which owned Finale for a year or so.
