[Finale] Midi Keyboard

Finale mac users- I'm just starting out working with a midi keyboard and 
Finale. I have a keyboard which i borrowed from a friend, but I have 
nothing else. Would it suffice to buy a cheap Midi to USB adapter, and 
plug it in, and start playing? or do I need to do more than that for it 
to be compatible with Finale.
