As I've watched this thread unfold, I have increasingly suspected that it all comes down to whether your printer can or can't duplex. Presumably yours can't; mine can. On those occasions when I do need to manually run the reverse of a page (I keep my title pages separate from the associated music files, for example), I have nonetheless experienced no problems in 2K7. I have no difficulty at all making booklets, with no 3d-party utility.

Some other points that no one seems to have addressed:

1) In thePrint dialog, Finale 2007 pulldown, you need to make sure that "Ignore Printer Margins for N-up printing" is checked.

2) Also, the pages you want to print, in the proper printing order, should be entered in the Finale 2007/Page Ranges box, while leaving Copies and Pages/Pages set at the default "All".

3) If you want a blank page to precede the first printed page on a 2-up sheet, you need to create an actual blank page at the beginning of the file. For printing purposes, that will be your page 1, no matter what the assigned page numbers say, and you can then use "1" to represent any other blank page(s) you want in that file when it is printed.

4) Make sure the Page Setup (File menu) is set to Tabloid.

For now, that's all I can think of.

Don,

One further thing that I don't know if you are aware of. This comes
from Andrew Stiller last year some time, when I complained about 2-up
printing.

I had a similar problem in 2K7. The fix is to go into the Page
Setup dialog and select "Any Printer" from the pop-up menu, rather
than the name of your specific printer.

This solved the problem of 2-up printing simply being broken, but the
other problems still stand.

As for the margin creep, I'm sorry, but it wasn't in the OSX print
dialogue that I had seen the adjustment. I was thinking about a
driver I had in OS9(!) that allowed that. In OSX I adjusted the
margins in FINALE to allow for 2-up printing. As you can imagine, it
was quite a kludge when some parts needed a single page, or a third
page.

It has been a while now since I attempted it. The photocopy shop (or
Cocoa Booklet, as Johannes mentioned) are the best solutions by a mile.

Christopher
