Do people here know about AUDIVERIS? Herve Bitteur has been working on it, though he is now months behind on a promised update. It's Java-based, so MAC or PC should be able to handle it.
The interface is better that SHARPEYE2. The main problem is that the correction tools are not fully developed yet. Also, the scans must be prepared outside of the application. However, I must say the user interface is completely abominable -- it looks like it was designed in 1993 and not updated since. -------- I've been using SharpEye2 a lot this year (FinWin2008a) and whilst I agree that the interface is horrid, it actually works well at recognizing what's on the page. The translation of the XML files by Dolet4 also works well with a caveat about music that is modal. Mixed metres and time signatures don't phase it, but it can assign a major or minor key to music which is not in that key. The interface of SmartScore requires a lot of mousing and the tools provided are not at all intuitive, but it is possible to develop a reasonable work flow. It is also Windows only and as I'm now running virtual Windows inside Mac OSX, I'm curious to see how it handles 64- bit Vista, and have the translation into FinMac2009b via Dolet. The Epson V350 scanner I use helps a lot. None of which helps David, but scanning music is a viable option these days. Regards, Rudi vB.
