To those of you who paused in their lives to look at my problem, "creating MP3 files", thank you, very much. The problem was solved when I ticked the 'Midi' play back ,instead of 'Vst' playback, under the 'Midi/Audio' menu. This in turn allowed the 'Save as Audio' box with the necessary radio buttons, to appear when I used the 'Export as Audio File' command under the File menu. (I wonder what VST stands for!!).
