You're not alone!

I also cannot seem to get on with the new system for staff lists in 2009, they seem to have a mind of their own. The option for 'show on top staff' does not work, especially when used in conjunction with a score and parts in the same file. The tempo expressions just don't appear on the top stave of the part even though it is checked. I need to check mark them all to get it to work. I have lost a lot of time and made some serious errors because of this. Finale 07/08 never gave me a problem in this area, what you put in was what you got in the part. It also plays up if you add staves after you have set up score expressions (tempo markings).

I don't know if I'm alone on this one either, but has anyone else noticed unusual things happening with playbacks in finmac09.

For instance, I get phantom 'hidden' notes (little groups of 32 or 64th notes) added in various staves for no reason, and whenever I set up a rall. or rit. to playback with a shape assignment it seems to go horribly wrong, something which I have done perfectly well in hundreds of files previously. In fact, it appears that if I set up a playback shape and then return to open the file later the playback gets all messed up, some ralls turning into a complete slow down to a hold. The only solution is to make them so fine in tempo reduction that they just about work. Any old file updated or clipped in just messes up completely. I also seem to have a lot of similar shapes appear in the selection box.

Has anyone also had this problem: You are putting in artics, accents, staccs, etc by clicking them in or drag clicking (while holding down the metatool) and then all of a sudden finale freezes - spinning beach ball of death - and then finale crashes. It usually happens when I go from clicking them in individually to drag-metatooling them or vice-versa, and if I change layer between these actions it is guaranteed to crash finale.

It's better to know if I am not the only one suffering!

Jonathan
