I am scoring a film in Finale 2010A to picture. I already know that if I open a new file, that Finale crashes if another file is open with the movie window open. And I have to be sure to move windows back to my primary monitor before disconnecting a 2nd monitor or I won't be able to access those windows till I reattach the 2nd monitor. Those I can live with but now a new problem!!!
I've spent the last few weeks at another location where I hook up a Dell monitor to my MacBook Pro laptop. At home, I have a Sony monitor I used to use with my desktop Mac. It worked fine but yesterday a new problem. After spending a lot of time at the other location with the Dell monitor attached to my laptop and it working ok, now at home with the Sony, the movie will only sync with the music if I start at the beginning or at least close to the beginning. Otherwise, it will not sync up. I finally thought I solved it with moving everything to the laptop using the laptop monitor only and it seemed ok. I tried the 2nd monitor once more, it didn't work, went back to the laptop only, restarted and thought everything would be fine but it is not working. Right now, I have 5 reels of 17 to 20 minutes each. Starting at the beginning for music later in the reel is not an option! Finale tech had suggested that trashing preferences might help with the crashes. For this problem, the only possible suggestion was to see if there was a newer video driver for my laptop but I'm told that is even less likely with Mac than PC and especially since my laptop is only a year old. A MakeMusic tech. referred me to these instructions, which fixed the problem. http://makemusic.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1726 After that, the updates to 10.6.1 and 10.6.2 didn't mess with the fonts at all. It happened to me on Windows XP. It happened to Christopher Smith on a Mac. I wiped out the entire F2010 installation and reinstalled just the base product without the patch and it works normally. Is it me or has MM completely f@@!ed it up? If I set the page size to the 2-up size, it gives me a whiny message about the page size not matching the Finale page, then doesn't print anything useful at all. If I set it to the page size of my document, the 2-up works but it is crammed onto a page that is twice too small and in the wrong orientation. A few versions back, 2-Up printing used to work. I'm currently using FinWin2K4. How do I get the page headings on pages 2 and after to read [Title Instrument]? Right now it reads [title] as formatted on the document. I can change simple text easily enough, but ... how to format that text to vary from part to part? Is a puzzlement! Thanks! I have 2010a installed on an XPpro machine and I'm not getting that crash which you have described. I just experimented again, with and without midi device entry, using speedy entry, and no crash. Just how pervasive is this bug? A couple of people have run into it, but certainly not a huge majority of the people on this list. It would be interesting to know what sort of percentage have had to uninstall the product and then just reinstall the original 2010 release. David H. I would _strongly_ advise all Finale users, particularly those Mac users on older machines (it happened on our G5 PPCs running OS 10.4.11) not to install this patch until this matter has been cleared up. As it would seem to not be affecting the whole Finale community, it might be an OS and/or processor conflict... Now it appears to be garbage. I just successfully printed two US letter sized pages side by side 2-up on 11 x 17 paper in both 2009 and 2010 on a Windows machine running XP. I don't presently have 2008 installed. As you describe, I do get the message about the page size not matching, but when I select the answer "yes" to the question "do you want to print anyway", printing works as I expect. Last time I remember not getting any printout, I was trying to print a booklet, and the left page I was trying to print did not exist in my document. ns ------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale End of Finale Digest, Vol 76, Issue 11 ************************************** _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
