I keep a copy of my current prefs close and an alias of the proper folder, so I can trash and replace with minimal fuss. I trashed prefs with AppleWorks once, but Finale seems to need it with remarkable frequency. I seem to go in waves; for example, it has been rare over the last few months, but it was every few days for a month or so before that.
