Larry - sorry, I didn't read carefully that you were asking about copying from one voice to another rather than one staff or part to another. I should resist the urge to answer posts when reading them on the fly on my iPhone. However, it might be worth a try to try Smart Find and Paint to see if it works across layers using "Show Active Layer Only". I haven't had an occasion to try it, but perhaps it works.
