Below is the full installation text that Makemusic support just sent me.
Updating Finale has never been easier ;-)
Has anyone tried it yet ? I wonder why this text is not in the
"Finale Read me.rtf".

Hello Jan,

we just came out with 2014a. What makes things a bit more complicated is 
that the auto updater on Windows is not working properly. So, what we 
need to do is a full uninstall and reinstall of Finale 2014. Here is how 
to do that:

1. You will need to be logged in to this computer on a user account that 
has full administrative rights.
2. Close Finale 2014.
3. Click your Windows Start orb and choose Control Panel.
4. In the Control Panel
5. In the Control Panel, choose Programs > Uninstall a program.
6. In your Programs and Features list, select Finale2014, and then click 
the Uninstall button on the tool bar.
7. Click your Windows Start orb again and choose Computer.
8. In your Computer folder, navigate to C:\Program Files folder, find 
your Finale 2014 folder and delete it. If you have any personal files 
saved here, be sure to remove them first.
9. Navigate to C:\Users\<your account>\AppData\Roaming\MakeMusic\Finale 
2014 * and delete this folder as well

(* = this is a hidden folder. To show hidden files and folders, go into 
Explorer's Organize Menu, Folder and Search Options, the View tab, and 
"Show hidden files and folders.")

10. Restart the computer
11. Re-install Finale 2014 from the installation disc, or by downloading 
it from https://store.makemusic.com/MyAccount/MySoftware.aspx
