Hi Geoff, I recently had a large project in which I was receiving MIDI files from an orchestrator and had the same issue. A partial solution was to use the TGTools Process parts plug-in which would, at least remove the unwanted note in the succeeding measure. You could then use JW Untie Notes to remove the tie. The only caveat is this process can only be done a few measures at a time, rather than en masse.
This is a situation where the composer or orchestrator should be doing their best to quantize their sequence in DP, Logic, etc., prior to sending the MIDI file to the copyist. Hope this helps, Greg Greg Hamilton Music Service Office: 604.420.COPY (2679) Cel: 604.612.9204 www.greghamiltonmusic.com > From: "Whittall, Geoff" <gwhitt...@gprc.ab.ca> > Subject: [Finale] Tied notes appearing after a bar line: how to get rid of > them en masse? > Date: 9 March, 2014 10:36:45 AM PDT > To: "finale@shsu.edu" <finale@shsu.edu> > Reply-To: <finale@shsu.edu> > > > Hi Folks, > I've looked everywhere I can think of, to find an answer to this dilemma. > I have imported a midi file that has lots of held over notes; these are > notes on a downbeat that are tied to a note in the previous bar, and are > not members of the chord on the downbeat of the new bar. > I know that hyper scribe has a setting that prevents these from being > created.
