I ran across this quoted passage recently, and I am wondering if it might be a well-known nursery-rhyme in the German-speaking world:
Geht, Kinder, nicht ans Wasser 'nan! Im Wasser wohnt der Wassermann, Der wird hinein euch ziehen, Wenn ihr nicht werdet fliehen. If so, is there a perhaps well-known tune that goes with it? Does anyone know of a pre-existing English translation?
