yeah. am i right in thinking that the built-in tablature is NOT the way to go and it is best to build my own "TAB" as staff style in the following situation?
in a single passage in the piece (otherwise notated on standard 5-line staff), a metal bar is used as a slide to perform a downwards gliss, the starting position is a BAR on the 14th fret, end position is an angled bar - from the 3rd fret on the 10th to the 4th on the 1st string. the rhythmic subdivisions change constantly and the strings are plucked in a defined sequence. the composer has indicated a "chord" with microtonal pitch approximations at the start and end, but knows the precise pitch cannot be controlled. i am thinking notating the outer notes would suffice, with a small note to explain the technique / passage. as for the tab staff, 10 lines gets difficult to read, so i placed a space between the 6th and 7th. any better suggestions than this? any comments from guitar players are particularly welcome!!!!! http://newmusicnotation.com/TEMPFILES/SN_guitar-10string.pdf -- LECTURE-RECITAL: problematics of electroacoustic notation 14-17 aug @ toronto int.
