I am currently preparing a modern performing edition of an 18th Century Italian
sacred work for chorus, strings, oboes and two horns.

Looking at the written horn parts, they appear to be in D, since the key
signature for the composition is D major (2 sharps), and the horn parts are
written with no key signature (first note is written on third space above
middle C, which should sound concert D fourth line.

When I enter the horn parts around the second and third spaces above middle C
(in treble clef), the note heads appear in yellow. The C and D above middle C
playback correctly, but the fourth space E (and anything higher) do not play
back. The playback is a step higher than written, which works in the key of D
major.

Is there something is Score Manager transposition that I can do to get all the
notes to appear in black and play back? Should the playback of these notes
sound an octave lower hovering around middle C?

All you horn specialists (and I know there are some of you out there who have
been of great help to me in the past), please weigh in on this and help me
figure this out.

Thanks!
Martin
