When things don't do what they are supposed to, and have worked properly in the past, the first thing I do is reboot. It happens to me all the time. Today it was not recognizing one of my fonts and displaying something else. The other day it was note spacing handles not working correctly. Fixed on reboot. (2014d on Mavericks).
