I’ve never tried the triplet thing, and I’m way past 2012, so I can’t help you there.
But the layer thing is a noted bug. A similar thing happens in orchestra and band scores for staves with measures rest; the rests don’t double, so the staves end up all misaligned. The same thing must be happening for layers. I know of a solution. For the orchestra file, one could run a plugin to change all the default rests to real rests, then change note durations, then change real measure rests back into default rests. For layers, you would have to have a REAL rest in that layer for every measure that doesn’t have notes in that layer. This could be a major pain, though. Please open a tech support ticket to mention these issues. They might have a better solution, and in any case, they would log the problem as one to be fixed. The more complaints they get, the farther up the list it goes. I can’t imagine how they thought the present functionality was a good idea.
