Choose the key that fits the music best. This could be the key of the piece, but sometimes a related key is a better match. Also, the horns could be in different keys. Start with the key of the strings/rest of the orchestra; if that causes problems, look for the simplest change that fixes it. It is also possible that the crooks could change if the music modulates - you would expect to see some gaps allowing the players time to switch crooks. Regards, Michael Lawlor
