If you are doing "type into score" and/or using a lot of copy and paste
with lyrics, be aware that Finale duplicates syllables like crazy (and
trashes the lyric text blocks). That still doesn't probably get you to
32,767 syllables but it's worth mentioning anyway.

I always try to keep my lyrics text blocks pristine. That means turning off
lyrics in the Edit Filter and never using Type Into Score. I use Click
Assign to assign them and my Mass Copy plugin to copy assignments. Also,
for a piece like St. Matthew Passion, I would without doubt place each
movement in a different Lyric Verse.

Even with all these precautions, Finale occasionally eats my lyric
assignments. (That is, they disappear.) The only recourse then is to hit
Undo until they reappear. Or if that's impossible, transfer the assignments
(using my Mass Copy plugin) from a backup copy of the file.

I'm looking at the lyric data structures I have access to. It may not only
be a 32,767 limit on the number of syllables. It looks like there might
also be a 32,767 limit on the number of characters. (The text block itself
can be up to ~2 billion characters, but the syllable parsing may not be
able to handle more than 32,767.)
