I recommend CutePDF; it works like a charm, there is a free version, and 
it was our standard at Sarasota Opera. I bought the pro version as it is 
pretty powerful at quite a reasonable price, and you get free upgrades 
forever.


Once you install that, you choose CutePDF as your printer, and it will 
open up an Adobe-like version of your file which you can then save to 
your computer.

That doesn't work for Windows users unless they've installed PDF
drivers, in which case they simply select Print and then select the PDF
driver to print to.  But if they haven't installed a PDF driver, it
won't work.
