Pablo's suggestion did not help. In private messages, Henry Howey suggested I switch music fonts. I switched from Maestro to Engraver - notes and stems are again as they should be. but I have no solution for the slurs and ties floating way above the staff. Once again, thanks for any suggestions. I still would like advice on where to find the fan files.
