We have a few seats left for these two workshops: 1. 5/31 Introduction to Permaculture Design and Site Assessment Workshop - Patty Love, Program Director of Rochester Permaculture Center (RPC), and Tanya Rogers, Farmer at <http://www.shimmeringlightfarm.com/> Shimmering Light Farm, both programs of Seeking Common Ground, Inc., are partnering to bring you a hands-on introduction to permaculture design workshop and site assessment. At the workshop, you will: *learn the ethics, principles, and applications of permaculture design *learn the reason edible food forest gardening is so productive in our region *learn sustainable (regenerative) gardening techniques *take part in a site assessment of this 25 acre farm *learn tools and techniques that you can use on any size property *meet and spend the day with folks sharing your interest When/Where: Date/Time: Saturday, May 31, 2104 9 am to 2 pm (brown bag lunch) Location: Hicks Road, Naples (full address and directions provided upon registration) Tuition: $40-60 (pay what you can afford) Preregistration is required. We hope you’ll join us at Shimmering Light Farm for this exciting event! 2. 6/01 Mushrooms – Advanced Outdoor Mushroom Cultivation with lunch Join us for an Advanced Outdoor Mushroom Cultivation workshop w/Olga Tzogas of Smugtown Mushrooms Date/Time: Sunday, June 1, 2014 10 am to 4 pm You will: *Learn about the life cycle of fungi, their vital roles in nature, and the basics of cultivation *Learn about the uses of Oyster, Shaggy Mane, Brick cap and a “mystery” medicinal mushroom species *Participate in the inoculation of logs to grow these mushrooms at Rochester Permaculture Center *Learn how to grow Oyster Mushrooms in straw *Take home a Grow Kit for Oyster mushrooms *Be eligible for a discount for a future online purchase from Smugtown Mushrooms *Share in a delicious fresh lunch Class Fee: $60 includes lunch Pre-registration with payment is required to hold your spot. Because this workshop is being held at a private residence, full location details (including address) will be provided upon registration and payment.
