*The Forest Talks* *a series of guides hikes in heritage forests of the Finger Lakes *
This month: July 26 at 5:30pm *Ethical Mushroom Foraging with Olga Tzogas* brought to you by Wellspring Forest Farm & School, Mecklenburg NY www.WellspringForestFarm.com The forest and its inhabitants have a lot to tell us about the places we call home, and we are fortunate to have some of the most unique and species-diverse forests of the entire east coast in the Southern Tier of New York. This month, we will join Olga Tzogas, owner of Smugtown Mushrooms <http://www.smugtownmushrooms.com/> in Rochester and an avid mushroom forager. Olga will share the basics of safe mushroom identification and show us where we can look to find some of the best edible and medicinal mushrooms in the woods. While its been an unseasonably dry summer (not the best for mushrooms), there is still plenty to learn about the forest types and places where we are most likely to find mushrooms such as chanterelles, chicken-of-the-woods, reishi, chaga, and more. COST: $20 per person, or $30 for two participants.
