My short answer is that I haven't set this up, so I can't walk you through
the details, but you might want to look into the 'cups' and 'gnome-print'
packages. Those seem to be the main providers of print services.

gnome-print is required by a lot of the gnome packages (bonobo, gal,
gtkhtml, guppi; ghex, eog, gnucash, gnumeric, sodipodi, scigraphica, and
terraform). cups -- which is meant to be a replacement for the old lpd
Unix line print daemon [I've read that Apple might be adopting it too] --
doesn't seem to be required for anything yet, but you can probably use it
everywhere you would need it. Not sure about details though.

So, I'd look into those two packages. One seems to be a de facto standard,
but I have the impression that the latter is pretty robust & versatile &
easy to use -- not that I've ever used it though, seeing as I don't have a
printer... :)
