Well then first thing to do is delete (or rename) your ~/.xinitrc and make sure that X starts at all, with the defaults. If it *doesn't*, then your X really is trashed, and you need to delete /etc/X11, /Applications/XDarwin.app, and /usr/X11R6 and do "fink reinstall xfree86-base xfree86-rootless". If it does, then whatever is in your .xinitrc isn't starting properly. -- Ben Reed a.k.a.
