I have tried for two days to install gnome. The install, from source, stops everytime in the same place:
make[2]: *** [mc] Error 1
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make: *** [all] Error 2
### execution of make failed, exit code 2
Failed: compiling mc-4.5.55-1 failed
I have even removed and reinstalled fink all to no avail.
I saw someone complain about this error within the last few days, I think, and he was referred to the archives so I checked there and saw something I did not understand about installing readline which I did before my last attempt to install gnome. Same error message.
I am a newbie, really new, and would greatly appreciate some help.
BTW, Martin helped me before and his suggestion with using a later version of fink on Jaguar was right on.
Thanks in advance.
