Thanks for your help on this. I got it working fine by removing my
existing XFree86 installation and re-installing it via FINK instead of
using the OSX installer packages. It compiles fine the way you guys
suggested PROVIDED I don't have GNOME or GIMP installed. If I do,
that's when it gets those error messages I mentioned last time. Also,
if I have "glut" and "gtkglarea" installed (the only OpenGL things I
can find on Fink), as apparently required, it compiles okay but crashes
when launched.
No idea why the previous combination didn't work,or why re-installing
it the way described helps, but there you go, and now we know the
solution!
