Hi Alexander,

The line
~% dpkg --version
says that I have "Debian GNU/Linux `dpkg' package management program version 1.9.20 (darwin-powerpc)' installed.

Fink says that I have version 1.10.9-2 installed, but a new version is available. That is to say 'dpkg' is preceded by (i) in a fink listing. Exactly three packages are preceded by (i), all 'dpkg' related:

(i) apt 0.5.4-8 Advanced front-end for dpkg
(i) apt-shlibs 0.5.4-8 Advanced front-end for dpkg
(i) dpkg 1.10.9-2 The Debian package manager

Regards,

Vic

What version of dpkg do you have right now (from "dpkg --version")?

 Curiously, the lines
     ~% sudo apt-get update
     ~% sudo apt-get install dpkg
seem to indicate everything is OK:
     Reading Package Lists... Done
     Building Dependency Tree... Done
Sorry, dpkg is already the newest version.
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

Be that as it may, the lines
     ~% fink install dpkg
     ~% fink selfupdate-cvs
     ~% fink update-all
each produce the same final output:
     can't find curses file
     make[2]: *** [curkeys.h] Error 1
     make[1]: *** [all-dselect] Error 2
     make: *** [all-recursive] Error 2
     ### execution of failed, exit code 2
     Failed: compiling dpkg-1.10.9-2 failed

 Vic
