Hello everybody! I tried to install system-xfree86 on my Mac OS X 10.2 system, with French as a default language. The command I entered was simply: apt-get install system-xfree86
The error message says: Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done The following NEW packages will be installed: system-xfree86 0 packages upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Need to get 0B/1924B of archives. After unpacking 0B will be used. (Lecture de la base de données... 3592 fichiers et répertoires déjà installés.) I tried purge system-xfree86, then install -f system-xfree86, with the same result. Then I tried: apt-get install xfree86-base, and the downloading begins! I did not finish it yet, for I am connected by modem, and the files are more than 40 megabytes. Anyway: will this solve the problem? Will X-application work if I install xfree86-base? Or will system-xfree86 still be required? And... Why can't system-xfree86 be installed? Is there a problem with the package or is the problem on my system? Has anyone experienced the same?
