You don't need to install xfree86 from Fink. That is already taken care of
when you installed Apple's X11. So, don't worry about having to delete
anything at this point. What you need from Fink is call "system-xfree86".
This tells Fink that xfree86 has been installed and where to find it (I
believe).

Because you encountered an error during installation of xfree86, nothing
really is installed. What you have downloaded was probably the tar files and
the dependencies (some of which you might need for bluefish). Some of the
dependencies might have been installed, but none is harmful.

Did you also install the required SDK package from Apple? You need that in
order for Apple X11 to work.

I feel that Apple X11 is much faster than the standard xfree86 because of
the implementation of quartz-extreme. I think that it's worth the change
from the standard xfree86 to Apple's X11.
