Hi folks,

I just finished upgrading, using Fink Commander and the unstable tree, and now when I double click on the XDarwin icon on the Dock, things start setting up, the patterned desktop appears, but then it spontaneously shuts down without any indication of what the problem may be.

The console record for this is:

2003-06-12 13:36:25.184 XDarwin[12907]
XDarwin 1.1.1.1

This is a pre-release version of XFree86, and is not supported in any
way. Bugs may be reported to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and patches submitted

waiting for X server to shut down

Quitting XDarwin...

I looked in my .xinitrc file, and the last command is:

exec /sw/bin/gnome-session-real

So that seems to be the problem.

As far as I can see, the startup is looking for a file named gnome-session-real, which does not exist at the expected location (I checked, it is not there, although there are gnome-session, gnome-session-save and gnome-session-properties). If this is the case, where is this file supposed to come from and how can I generate it? Or should that command be deleted from .xinitrc? Or am I missing something here?

Thanks,

Warren Gallin
