Hi folks!I don't know if it will be useful to you, but that's how I use mplayer.
mplayer runs on my machine, but it doesn't display properly. I Se one empty (black) window in KDE-Style and one "black box" without window-decoration, which seems to be the main window of mplayer.
The black box responds to Mouse-clicks. I am able to see the "About"-Window, which displays correctly...
I tried to run mplayer from a terminal and got some messages I appended to this message.
I hope there is someone out there who knows what my Mac wants to tell me :-)
I launch gmplayer in an xterm. Then I have a window with MPlayer-Video centered on the screen as title and a controller at the bottm right corner of the screen. If I launch it with Apple's X11, that's all what I have. With XDarwin and windowmaker I have also a menu at the top of the screen. But in both cases you could access the menu by alt-click or cmd-click on the controller.
But all I do is dealing with the controller. The first button in the center of the controller is the one I click to have access to my playlist folder (a folder where I put all my movies). Be aware that when you click on it it displays a browser which is also centered so it is hidden under the main window (you have to put the main window slightly on the left side or on the right side to view the browser then click on the movie you want to see. Another window opens at the first third of the screen. Click on it to give it the focus. From that moment, none action with the controller or the menu works, but you still can press some keys (q for quitting, left arrow for backward 10 seconds, up arrow for backward 1 minute, right arrow for forward 10 seconds, down arrow for forward 1 minute, + and - for audio delay, f for fullscreen, space bar for pause, f for fullscreen, * and / for sound.
And as it eats a lot of cpu to play a movie fullscreen, I close other applications and don't even try to use mplayer under kde.
