It seems as if I have the same version as you. Should I take that to mean that I have the Dec 2002 developers? If that's the case, I wonder why the August2003 gcc Updater does not recognize it.

There probably are a couple of possibilities. The simplest (I think) is to ask for the version of the compiler:[2:11pm manu ~]% cc -vAmazingly, I'm very interested in your report, since I had the same problem on several machines: I installed the Dec 2002 dev tools but it didn't show - and was not installed in fact.

Some time I blamed myself (even though I was sure that I had installed the #@& package, maybe I didn't after all), but at least twice I had to re-install the package since the modifications didn't showed.
There may well be a special procedure to follow (restart the machine, logout, etc...) instead of just installing all the packages in a row.
I've never seen that mentioned anywhere - but... I can testify that it happened to me ;-)
BTW, since those problems, I ALWAYS check my compiler version this way...
Good luck,
Manu

Yes, sorry. I meant that when I tried to install the August 2003 gcc Updater, the installation program told me I needed to have the December 2002 Developer Tools installed. But, I am pretty sure I had installed the December 2002 Developer Tools many months ago; that's why I want to know if there's a way to find out which version had been installed. Oh, and I should say that I'm trying to do all this on a System 10.2.8.
