You mean you don't have a file /sw/etc/fink.conf? If you didn't destroy it deliberately, your postinstall.pl script must have done something bad, and it probably talked about it. What do you get from

sudo /sw/lib/fink/postinstall.pl

OK. I could try to update gimp.

Two problems...

1) The path to at least one of the sources of the s/w has a typo..

ftp://ftp.cs.umn.edu/pub/gimp/gimp/v1.2/v1.2.5/gimp-1.2.5.tar.bz2

... is wrong. I think...

ftp://ftp.cs.umn.edu/pub/gimp/v1.2/v1.2.5/gimp-1.2.5.tar.bz2

is correct. (Too many /gimps)

2) After downloading and building gimp I then run it. With these errors: missing help browser and libgck is still missing....

smithp01-3> gimp &
[1] 10353
smithp01-4> "/sw/lib/gimp/1.2/plug-ins/helpbrowser" executable not found

Thanks for the help!!
