Did you already try what fink itsself suggested you? Interesting would be the part after that question of fink. A simple Y for yes and then the output would help a bit more. Sometimes a download is corrupted for whatever reason and in most cases a simple reload did it on my machine. And what's so curios about unzipping a zip package containing zip. Darwin comes with zip and fink brings along it's version. Maybe the Darwin version is too old kind of incompatible with fink. No idea but this is another question. You can also try to fetch the zip package with apt-get type sudo install gzip and see if this package unpacks.
