Since you mention this...I also saw this as a solution, but I found that while apt-get respects my installation of apple's X11, fink install wanted to install its own X11 stuff before installing emacs.
Luckily I haven't needed any other X aware apps from fink install, but does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? I may want to know sometime.
