[Fink-beginners] more problems with - dyld: perl Undefined symbols:

I am running panther for a while and haven't had any problems with my 
mysql, dbi setup until the other day when I did a fink self-update 
followed by an update all.....  Then suddenly I got this error when 
trying to run a perl program that requires DBI:

dyld: perl Undefined symbols:
_Perl_safefree
_Perl_safemalloc
_perl_call_method
_perl_get_sv
Trace/BPT trap
I have searched google for help and have tried every fix, but this 
error persists.  Please help me.
