A new revision of mc got checked into unstable yesterday--I don't know if it will be any better, though.

I haven't played around with mc since I updated to Panther, actually--I thought that the arrows did work for me on Jaguar, but maybe I'm misremembering.

Alexander, it is much better. Function keys work, but arrow keys do not
work. For example in $ line when I try to use arrow keys:

$ BBBBBBBBBBBCCCCCCCCCCDDAAADDD

Almost there. I need my arrows. :)

Yes--I wasn't sure if you were using bash or tcsh, and I was too lazy
to write up parallel instructions.

You might want to try just setting it in your terminal first, to see if
the results are good.

Alexander, would I set that with export command in .bashrc file?

Hi.

I just installed mc package from Fink database. I cannot seem to use
my
arrow keys and function keys (with fn key) on my PowerBook G4 like I
do
in Linux. Am I missing something?

Thank you in advance. :)

Try setting your TERM environment variable to be xterm-color.
