I have Mac OS 10.3 (Panther). I initially installed xfree86 4.3.99.16-2 available through fink. Then I became aware of Apple's X11 available for Panther, and tried to install that one instead. It didn't install and it seemed to have a problem with a newer version of X11 already existing on the disk, so I removed the xfree86 installation (with "sudo rm -rf /usr/X11R6 /etc/X11 /Applications/XDrawin.app"). This did not solve the problem and the Installer still objects to the installation of Apple X11 saying that newer version of this package already exists on the disk, even if I can not see it.
I don't know what is the matter for this issue. Having not much experience with it I was thinking of removing fink and installing it from the very beginning. Please advise.
