As far as I understood you have to set an environment variable called DISPLAY to make X11 work propoerly. I've done that by writing

setenv DISPLAY :0

in .cshrc. But that setting is valid only, when calling a program from an (t)c shell. Is there any chance to set this variable globally.

We have a problem here on calling ocaml with grpahics from a Carbon (non X11) version of emacs.

This is not really a fink question, but I don't know where else to ask.
