What you see is right--these are supposed to be virtual packages--they don't show up as installed (i.e. with the "i" by their names).

Alexander,

Here's the output from 'fink list x11'. It shows the three x11 packages,
but seems to say that they are not installed (even though the information
from the previous command had listed them as 'provided by' the
system-xfree86 packages).

[trurl:/Users/cewing] admin% fink list x11
Information about 1605 packages read in 0 seconds.
     x11 [virtual package]
     x11-dev [virtual package]
     x11-shlibs [virtual package]

I'm trying the binary install this morning. I'll let you know how it
goes.

This seems weird to me, because the virtual packages scan shows x11 as
installed. 2 ideas:

1) Does x11 show up if you run "fink list x11"?
2) Try installing the same version of openmotif3 from the binary
distribution:

sudo apt-get install openmotif3-shlibs openmotif3

Alexander,

Here also is the output from running 'fink install openmotif3', just in
case it will help with figuring this out.

What do you get if you run "fink-virtual-pkgs --debug"?

Hi,

I have the apple version of X11 installed on my g5. I'm trying to
install openmotif3 in order to be able to install another piece of
software that requires it.

I try to do 'fink install openmotif3' and it runs for quite some time
and then craps out, telling me that I don't have x11 installed. I've
checked and I do have the system-xfree86 packages installed (I guess
that happens automagically when you install the apple x11). I don't
have the x11 virtual packages installed (x11, x11-dev, etc). How can
I make the fink see the apple x11 when installing openmotif?

Thanks very much for any help you can offer,

Cris
