I have now managed to get xchat up and running to one extent or the other...

I tried running the pango-querymodules as suggested in the error message above, but this just returned a "command not found" response.
I booted up FinkCommander to look and see if pango is installed.
Installed some additional pango packages. Now xchat is usable. Ugly still though.

Looks nothing like that, of course. /me scratches head...
Wish I could figure out where it is logging the chat sessions to, if it *is* logging them. Or if not, how to turn it on and specify where to save them to...
