Hi Alexander,
I'm trying to update everything I can but am not getting too far in having applications work. Essentially I'm still able to run a few Gnome friendly apps but cannot run a gnome-session that has much functionality in that I cannot adjust anything from the control apnel (it won't open). Here is the terminal output from an attempt:
[Brian-OKeefes-Computer:~] brianoke% gnome-session
_IceTransmkdir: Owner of /tmp/.ICE-unix should be set to root
SESSION_MANAGER=local/Brian-OKeefes-Computer.local:/tmp/.ICE-unix/644
