Ah, good, thank you. But it seems that this option is not available in Fink Commander. Should I try to submit a patch for this? I'm a little wary because development of Fink Commander seems to have stalled. I don't think it has seen an update since I first installed it about a year ago.
I also think this would be a great addition to FinkCommander. It could put up a list of packages to be installed and let the user choose for each eligible package whether it should be installed from source or from binary. Unfortunately, I can only dream of such a functionality, I don't speak any Objective-C. If you are able to submit working patches for FC, I am sure we can reanimate the project. Right now, the number of people maintaining the code of FC is exactly zero.
