Thanks Brian, I did exactly as you described below. When I type evolution at the prompt, I just get and error that reads "Command not found".

I want to thank all of you for your support, but I will not be trying to install evolution 1.4.6 due to its inability to connect to an exchange server. I really need the lastest version 2.0.4. However, all the compiling that needs to be done will probably claim one of my weekends.

Do you think that the maintainer could put a binary together for this version?

thx

It's not the maintainer who produces the binary distribution, since it's nominally a unified release; and it wouldn't help in this case because there's something wrong with your environment that causes the evolution executable not to be found. I would suspect that it's the standard problem with the "Terminal" Application Menu item from Apple's X11. This is easily fixed: modify the Terminal item to read

xterm -ls

instead of just

xterm

This is a problem with the X11 application, and comes into play under many circumstances when the system environment is modified--it's not restricted to Fink.

(That way if evo-2 builds OK you should be able to get up and running without extra hassle!)
