I want to thank all of you for your support, but I will not be trying to install evolution 1.4.6 due to its inability to connect to an exchange server. I really need the lastest version 2.0.4. However, all the compiling that needs to be done will probably claim one of my weekends.
Do you think that the maintainer could put a binary together for this version?

This is a problem with the X11 application, and comes into play under many circumstances when the system environment is modified--it's not restricted to Fink.
(That way if evo-2 builds OK you should be able to get up and running without extra hassle!)
